The Crystal Palace, located in the Retiro Park, is part of the Reina Sofía Museum group of exhibition spaces. Built by architect Ricardo Velázquez for the Philippine Islands exhibition in 1887, it is regarded as one of the best examples of cast-iron and glass architecture in the country. It currently houses temporary exhibitions of contemporary art to which entrance is free of charge.
