Created at the request of Isabel II in the mid-nineteenth century, it houses an exhibition of 3,500 minerals and 6,000 fossils divided into six collections: Systematic Minerals, Mineral Resources, Minerals from the Autonomous Regions, Spanish Flora and Fossil Invertebrates, Foreign Fossils and Fossil Vertebrates.
